A £3.5 million construction project at the Port of Dover involved the delivery of a specialist clear-span structure measuring 35m × 35m and standing 17m high, providing covered access to passport control facilities at one of the UK's busiest international transport gateways.
Our construction delivery team brought together the technical expertise, specialist resources and project management experience required to deliver this complex development within a fully operational port environment.
Working within a live international port presented significant logistical and operational challenges. Construction activities had to be carefully coordinated around thousands of daily freight and passenger vehicle movements, while maintaining safe access and minimising disruption.
The project also involved international procurement, complex delivery arrangements and a demanding construction programme operating across 24-hour shifts.
Working closely with Sprung Structures, our team coordinated the procurement and installation of the specialist building, including the importation of structural components from Canada.
Careful planning, close communication with port operations and coordinated health and safety arrangements were central to successful delivery.
The project was completed on time and within budget, with minimal disruption to the Port of Dover's daily operations.
This major infrastructure project demonstrates our team's capability to manage complex construction programmes, coordinate international supply chains and deliver high-quality outcomes in challenging operational environments.
The project was featured in Channel 4's Dover 24/7.
